With his wife’s disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man sees the spotlight turned on him when it’s suspected that he may not be innocent.
“Gone Girl” directed by David Fincher, the same director from films like “Fight Club” & “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” blew me away both mentally and emotionally with “Gone Girl” adapted from the popular book. I have been waiting patiently for a movie, in theatres, that challenges my intellect and imagination. I am not going to say much about this film in fear of giving away spoilers! but I highly recommend this film. I like to use the term Roller Coaster a lot in my reviews, and in “Gone Girl” I immediately board this ride of did he do it? Did he kill his wife? mixed with, Are they in on it?
I must mention, I don’t care that much for Affleck as an actor. After the movie ended, my friend and I spent time debating if he is a good actor or just manages to find himself in “A movies” and land “A parts”? after all Affleck is the next Batman! It doesn’t really matter. He was so convincing playing a non remorseful husband whose wife is missing and presumed dead. Gone Girl kept me guessing till the very end. Fincher/Flynn also successfully mind Fu%k you because they hint at a incestuous relationship between Affleck’s character and his on-screen sister.
I also believe under the layers and layers of this movie, it’s a satire on modern-day marriage disguised as a Drama/Mystery/Thriller.
Go see this movie! You will not be disappointed. The acting is brilliant! Rosamund Pike is just stunning and Doogie Houser is in the movie as a complete creep.
